Arrive Alive - Traffic Safety Awareness along Farrington Hwy.
Youth will be holding signs to warn motorists along busy Farrington Hwy. to slow down and drive safely - arrive alive. Farrington Hwy. has a history of high traffic fatalities. We also want to raise awareness of the dangers of riding in the bed of a truck, sitting on the ledge and possibly falling off.
Youth will take a stand against irresponsible driving. Together, we will drive down traffic related accidents and fatalities, and raise traffic safety awareness. We will be sign-waving at three locations.

The BIG Sweep
The BIG Sweep is Volunteer Frederick’s annual county-wide beautification project that raises money for participating area nonprofits. Structured like a walk-a-thon, participants collect donations from family, friends and other supporters for their chosen nonprofit. Instead of walking, however, BIG Sweep participants pick up trash from Frederick County roadsides and dump sites. The 8th Annual BIG Sweep will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2009.
Who can participate in the Big Sweep?
The Opp-Guide to Community Service, Inc.
We are an on-line community service database in which youth write reviews based upon their volunteer experience. Youth led and developed, the Opp-Guide (http://www.opp-guide.com) provides that missing link between students not knowing where to volunteer for required "service" hours and locating a service activity that they actually enjoy and will continue to serve their community throughout adulthood.
