As a substitute teacher in Prince George’s County, Kim Carrington, 44, has stepped up to the head of a lot of different classes, from kindergarten to high school French. But it was the food and nutrition class she taught at Surrattsville High in Clinton that came to mind when she got an e-mail one day about grants available from a nonprofit organization called Youth Service America.

KUMASI, GHANA – 25th February 2010 – Young People We Care (YPWC) together with its affiliates and other interested organizations will mobilize more than 15,000 children and youth to participate in the 22nd Annual Global Youth Service Day (GYSD) from Friday, April 23 through to Sunday, April 25, 2010, across West and Central Africa.
Foundation Kicks Off 2010 Student Semester of Service

To help support student volunteer service this Spring school semester, the Charles H. Bassett Youth Foundation, Inc. is organizing two national day of service projects and again providing middle and high school students with volunteer recognition. On Saturday, April 24, 2010 National and Global Youth Service Day sponsored by State Farm and Youth Service America, the Foundation will sponsor the 1st annual Walk For Books Promoting Family Literacy partnering with the Tioga County Family Reading Partnership.
J-Serve grants awarded to communities across the country for Jewish Youth Service Day

J-Serve, the National Day of Jewish Youth Service, in partnership with Youth Service America's Global Youth Service Day has awarded 19 grants of up to $2,500 to communities from coast to coast. These mini-grants were awarded to communities who have presented community service project plans for J-Serve 2010, which will be held on April 25, 2010.

CEO Kid Becca Robison, a young social entrepreneur is passionate about helping young girls get exited about science and space! Becca is a joy to talk with but it wasn’t always that way. She used to be terribly shy and having her own business really helped her overcome her shyness! Becca has earned awards, traveled the world, and even met President Bush.
