Ohio FCCLA has plans to kick off the GYSD on Martin Luther King Day across the state focusing in three urban areas and also participate in the Semester of Service. Our projects will focus on Children in Crisis as service learning projects through our family, consumer science classes in middle schools and high schools. Two major projects will be emphasized - The Giving Doll- Ohio FCCLA State Outreach Project and Children's Miracle Network- National FCCLA Outreach Project. The Giving Dolls would be distribute to chidlren in crisis whether Troop deployment, local police and fire departments, children's hospital, domestic abuse shelters etc. Ohio FCCLA would distribute mini grants to chapters to secure supplies to make and distribute Giving Dolls on GYSD or other projects. During the Regional meetings in March and February promotions will take place.During our FCCLA State Leadership Conference ( the week of GYSD) we will focus on kick off for week with proclamation. Ohio FCCLA will communicate with Web site and News Brief plus the advisery youth board will plan for the Celebration for GYSD.There are over 16,000 members statewide to participate in GYSD in 440 chapters. Our chapter make up is diversed. Ohio FCCLA is a certifying organization for Presidential Volunteer Service Award. It will be also promoted and awards given locally on GYSD.Ohio FCCLA will also use the resources for service learning and other GYSD materials as well as Semester of Service.
