Choose how you want to engage your classroom, afterschool program, or entire school in GYSD.
GYSD is an opportunity for you to engage students in volunteering, community service, service-learning, or a Semester of Service.

You can engage your students in a volunteer activity with a community organization or organize a volunteer or philanthropic activity in your school.

You can guide your students in planning their own community service project in the school or community.

You can connect community service to your classroom lessons by planning a service-learning project related to what you're teaching in April.

You can engage students in service-learning over a longer period of time using YSA's Semester of Service framework, using GYSD as a service day or as a time for demonstration and celebration.

Plan your GYSD or Semester of Service.

For service-learning or Semester of Service projects, use our Semester of Service Strategy Guide and give our Semester of Service planning calendars to your students. (Request free printed copies of these materials here.)

The Global Youth Service Day Toolkit is a step-by-step guid that will help you and your students plan and lead a high-quality community service project or service activities that are part of a service-learning or Semester of Service project.

You can also check out many other service-learning resources and trainings from YSA.

Register your GYSD project.

Registering your project takes less than 5 minutes, and will add your project to the GYSD Map and the GYSD Impact Report. Registering your project helps YSA tell the story of what's happening all around the world on GYSD, and it helps media, elected officials, partners, and volunteers find your project.

Let the community know about your work.
